About CHS

Our mission

Our mission at Comprehensive Health Services (CHS) is to build a robust and resilient practice that delivers comprehensive mental health care services, customized to an individual’s needs at any given life stage, in a timely, culturally competent, and compassionate manner.

CHS owns and operates 3 licensed outpatient mental health clinics throughout Massachusetts including:

  • Charles River Counseling Center in Needham, MA
  • Center for Family Development in Lowell, MA
  • Stoney Brook Counseling Center in Chelmsford, MA

CHS operates as a multi-disciplinary team, with both Child and Adult Board Certified Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Clinicians heading up the medical staff, along with Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, and Master’s Level Clinicians. They are highly trained and experienced in a full range of therapeutic and counseling services. In addition, CHS serves as training sites for Psychology Doctoral students and Social Work students. All sites assess clients of all ages with a wide range of psychiatric difficulties.

Every client’s needs are unique. When you schedule your first appointment, the Intake Coordinators will gather a brief history from you and the reason you are requesting services. They will assist you with cost and insurance questions, as well as any questions about starting treatment.

Your first session is the initial assessment. Your therapist will discuss what form of treatment (i.e. individual, family therapy, medication management) would most benefit you and how often the sessions will be scheduled. The duration and frequency of your therapy sessions are dependent on your needs. Initial assessments with the psychiatrist will last for one hour. Medication checks are between 15-30 minutes long and are scheduled on a basis that is consistent with your needs.

Downloadable client forms are available on the Forms page. Our Intake Coordinators can send client forms through email, as well. New clients can complete these forms prior to the first appointment and should bring the completed forms with them to the appointment.

For all current clients, if you require emergency services outside of our general business hours, our answering service will take your name and phone number and a trained on-call clinician will return your call.

We strive to provide the highest quality of service in a safe and confidential environment. This coordinated clinician team concept offers clients the assurance of receiving a comprehensive, professional care in a comfortable, friendly environment. In addition to our clinician’s professional expertise, they provide a genuine sense of caring, compassionate understanding, and a warm, nurturing attitude.
